Upcoming Social Events Th e new BWCA social activity board members have tallied the results of the social activities survey that was posted on Facebook. Approximately 60 people responded to the survey. Aft er discussion at the June board meeting it was decided that fi ve social activities will be planned over the next year based on the survey results. Th ese fi ve activities will be in addition to the Brookside Bash. Th e new activities are:
Block parties. Th e neighborhood will be divided into 3 sections for these parties. Each of the three parties will be held at diff erent times. Th ese will be held approximately in May, July and September. Th e fi rst of these will be planned for this coming September.
An ice cream social in the BWCA park - August 4th - see page 2.
A movie night in the BWCA park. Th e fi rst one will tentatively be held this August.
An adult wine and cheese gathering in the BWCA park. Date to be determined.
An Easter egg hunt.
A bike safety presentation for parents and their children will also occur during one of the other social activities. Our police liaison will be helping to coordinate this activity.
Please volunteer to help our social activities board members plan and carry out each of these activities. They will be counting on your help to make each activity a success. Contact the board members at BrooksideWoodsColumbus@gmail.com.

New Lighting for the Park
New lighting has been ordered for the BWCA owned Maplebrook Park. Your BWCA dues will be used to provide this new, upgraded look. Th is project was voted on and passed at the last meeting. BWCA President, Jameson Moore, has ordered the bollard lights to get the project comlpeted. Th e lights will be round, louvered LED lights. Th e louvers will point the light downward and the LEDs will keep electricity costs low.
Jameson also cleaned and powerwashed all of the sidewalks surrounding and inside the park. Go take a look and enjoy this little neighborhood gem.
Our neighborhood Little Library is also located at this park.
Columbus Foundation “Kindness Close to Home” Program
Would you like to get to know more of your neighbors? The Columbus Foundation Kindness Close to Home 2024 program provides FREE neighborliness kits to start a chain reaction of kindness and connectivity throughout the area.
Per their web site you can get a FREE neighborliness kit through th’e Foundation. The neighborliness kit includes most of the supplies you’ll need to host a small gathering for up to 10 neighboring households this summer, including invitations, a welcome banner, snacks and napkins, name tags, planning suggestions and more’. Once you register, they will mail the kit to your home.
